Vessel tracking system is a voluntary system where in vessel mount tracking device tracks, transmits and analyze its movement, course, speed etc. This can be done from a great distance which enables determining if a vessel is in distress or send a rescue assist in proximity on immediate basis. Typically VTS system uses radar, closed-circuit television (CCTV), VHF radiotelephony and automatic identification system to keep track of vessel movements and provide navigational safety in a limited geographical area.
